Near Vivian and Nourse on Highway 15, which is close to Winnipeg. This upper section of the Brokenhead is best paddled in May or June. The Brokenhead canoe routes are well described in “Through Field and Forest: A Canoe Companion for the Brokenhead River” by Dusty Moulinski. Note: This is a new exploratory trip for the Grey Hares.

Hike along the Trans Canada Trail on the east shore of Lake Winnipeg, from the Lakeshore Heights cottage area right up to Grand Beach Provincial Park (ca. 10-12 km.).
