Doug Kyle

Honorary Life Membership 1986

Doug Kyle served as Treasurer of the Society from 1961-1966, and President from 1967-1969. During the 1960’s he also chaired the Program and Membership Committees and was on the Executive at the time the decision was made to begin a concerted effort to expand membership.

A cross-country skier and expert birder, Doug has shared his knowledge with Society members by leading trips for over 25 years. He conducted the original breeding bird survey in Latilong One (Elma area) 19 years ago, and with his partner, Norm Cleveland, has carried out this survey on an annual basis ever since. He has been a regular participant in the Christmas Bird Count for many years, and was an original member of the Rare Bird Alert. In the past, Doug has taken older members out on birding trips when they were no longer able to go out on their own. He also assisted the MMS office by making deliveries in the city at no cost to the Society.
