Manitoba is rich in wetlands, with vast prairie marshes, numerous prairie potholes, several large river deltas and the bogs and fens of the boreal and tundra. These wetlands are home to a vast array of birds, including, of course, numerous waterfowl, loons, grebes, pelicans, long-legged waders, cranes, rails, shorebirds, gulls and terns and passerines from several families that have evolved in these habitats. This presentation will overview the rich avian biodiversity of Manitoba's wetlands and discuss their identification and distribution, as well as touching on ecological and conservation significance.
