President's Award recipient 2023
Andre has been a long term volunteer, treasurer and board member for over 25 years. He is an avid hiker and canoe tripper.
After Susan McLarty, the office admin and finance person, retired at the beginning of 2023, Andre, in additional to all his existing duties as treasurer, took on all of Susan’s financial duties on top of his own full-time job. This allowed him, in consultation with others, to evaluate all the financial processes to improve, streamline and find savings.
A new job description fitting our future needs was developed and we hired Betty-Jean Moyer a month ago. This was only possible because Andre was so committed to Nature Manitoba.
His expertise, calm manner and leadership is greatly appreciated by all of us who work with him.
Congratulations and thank you, Andre!
Service Award recipient 1997
André joined the MNS in 1990 and has volunteered on a variety of committees. As the MNS Treasurer for over 3 years, André has spent countless hours in meetings, working on the MNS’ many accounts, preparing financial statements and reports.
In addition, André has also been Chairperson of the Victoria Beach Cottage Committee since 1994, and for some of those years it’s been a committee of one. He has done considerable work to repair and improve the cottage and the grounds. André has also been very active in the Mantario Outdoor Program committees, organizing programs and workshops and leading trips.
André has contributed considerably to the Society and its many programs and is very deserving of this Service Award.
President’s Award recipient 1996
The Manitoba Naturalists Society has over 25 committees and undertakes numerous projects each year. Being the MNS Treasurer entails a lot of work and responsibility, with many hours spent organizing and sorting out the financial complexities. André was the MNS Treasurer 1993-1994 and for the past year. I appreciate the dedication he has brought to this position.
