Clayton Turnbull

Service Award recipient 1992

Always wiling to lend a hand, Clayton has been a cheerful helper since joining the MNS in 1978. In addition to staffing the MNS display at Wildlife week and the Sportsman’s show, helping at bingos and the indoor program, he found time to serve on the Education, Parks, Finance and Heritage Marsh Advisory Committees and as a board member for three years from 1987 to 1989.  During his tenure on the board, Clayton introduced many sound financial policies which have guided the MNS ever since. In 1988 Clayton managed the Fundraise Canada program for the MNS, which raised enough money to purchase radio equipment for Mantario. Clayton continues to review the MNS financial statements to ensure proper accounting procedures are followed.

Like most members, Clayton is an ardent recreationalist and he has led many trips for the Society, including the weekend ski trip to Maplelake and one memorable ski trip to Sandilands. He has an extensive knowledge of the ski trails and canoe routes in Manitoba that he is always willing to share with the fellow naturalists.
