Conservation Districts (CDs) are a partnership between the province and local municipalities to protect, restore and manage land and water resources on a watershed basis. The East Interlake Conservation District (EICD) represents 15 municipalities that are north of Winnipeg and are on the west side of the Red River and Lake Winnipeg. This presentation will highlight some of the initiatives developed by the EICD which include: development and implementation of four Integrated Watershed Management Plans (IWMP), wetland/riparian area enhancement and protection, invertebrate and water sampling, aerial mapping and planning, nutrient management programs, tall grass prairie initiatives and surface water management.
