Service Award recipient 1996
In recognition of his efforts over the past three years to stop the development of a downhill ski operation in an ecologically sensitive area within Aesissippi Provincial Park, Ian Greaves has been awarded a Service Award.
Ian has been a long time member of the Parks Committee. During the past several years, he has focused considerable time and energy investigating a proposal for the construction of a ski facility in Aesissippi Park. Ian helped draw the Society’s attention to the ecological importance of the area and the habitat devastation that would occur, especially for species of neotropical song birds, if the proposal was allowed to proceed. He doggedly dug up information and pursued leads that could be used by concerned individuals and groups, like the MNS, as background material for writing letters and developing briefs for submission at the Clean Environment Commission hearing.
The MNS is pleased to present Ian with this Service Award.
