We have reached the limit of tree subsidy applications for the 2024 program. Please check back in March of next year or subscribe to our newsletter to stay up to date on our programs. Thank you!
Manitoba Bluebird Fund (MBF) was set up by Nature Manitoba with the goal of stopping the continuing decline in the number of songbirds in Manitoba, and to hopefully even see their numbers increase. One of the activities of the fund is to offer a financial incentive to Manitoba homeowners in order to encourage the planting of trees and/or shrubs on their property that will provide food and habitat for Manitoba songbirds.
Under this project, we are offering a financial incentive for Manitoba home owners to plant on their property fruiting trees or shrubs that will retain their fruit for the birds during the winter, and also provide habitat in the summer. The offer consists of the MBF offering a subsidy of up to $100 towards the purchase of an eligible tree. This offer is limited to one (1) tree per household and the subsidy is paid directly to the nursery.
For the previous campaign, the fund budgeted to subsidize 100 trees, offered to Manitoba home owners on first come – first served basis.
Eligible Trees:
Ornamental Crabapples (Rosyblooms):
- Thunderchild
- Pink Spire
- Royal Beauty
- Selkirk
- Red Splendor
- Startlite
Mountain Ash:
- Russian
- Blackhawk
- Showy
- Oakleaf
