The Bridging the Gap Program is thrilled to introduce our new coordinator Jamie Vann.
Jamie will be joining a renewed steering committee which has been working to plan and update the program. He will be working with Elders and knowledge-keepers to develop and deliver experiences that allow children to explore and learn about the land around them with a two-eyed seeing approach that brings together Indigenous worldviews with western sciences.
Jamie Vann - Bridging the Gap Program Coordinator
Jamie is a settler Canadian who arrived in this country at the age of two, after being born in Bavaria, Germany. He now lives and explores with his family on Treaty #1 territory in and around Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Jamie’s main focus is connecting people with nature and with community, through nature. He is committed to developing child-centered education and relationship building across cultures, outdoors. Contributing to the process of Truth and Reconciliation as people learn together on Indigenous Land.
Jamie is a founding member of Hinterland Nature Cooperative, where he is the Board President, Nature Camp Programs and Site Development Coordinator and Ice Maker. He is also a facilitator of the Forest and Nature School Practitioners Course through Child and Nature Alliance of Canada and has over 15 years experience managing and facilitating programs with youth and families in Winnipeg’s inner city.
He is excited to be a part of this journey with Nature Manitoba and the Bridging the Gap program!
