Kevin & Anita Miller (register by email at k.a.miller@mts.net). Nature Manitoba's COVID-19 protocols (effective 2022-Mar-01): Here.
(As of Friday August 19, 13 people have signed up for this activity. There is room for more.)
Location / Time: We'll launch from the Tremblay bicycling/pedestrian bridge at 10:00 AM. There is parking along Edgewood Street on the west end of the bridge, and also along Tremblay Street on the east end of the bridge. Please plan to arrive at 9:30.
Description: We'll paddle upstream to the culvert at the Windsor Park Golf Course, and then turn around and paddle downstream to the launch location (13K). Some of us may also want to paddle downstream to Marion Street and beyond ... and back to the launch site. The Seine River within Winnipeg is fairly shallow and very popular, and there are dozens of potential locations to disembark if needed.
Lunch: We'll find an appropriate shore location for lunch ... perhaps the launch location.
Toilets: There aren't any formal toilets along the river. As we mentioned, there are dozens of potential locations to disembark if needed. (BTW: We were very disappointed when a toilet was not included in the $180,000 project to build the accessible dock at John Bruce Park two years ago.)
Boats: If you don’t have a canoe or kayak, someone may be looking for a bow paddler in their canoe.
Rating: Novice (bow paddler in the canoe of an experienced stern paddler) to intermediate.
Bring: Lunch, water, sunscreen, your name tag, and extra clothes ... just in case.
