Service Award Recipient 1996
In recognition of four years chairing, Susan Cosens has been awarded a Service Award. Susan joined the MNS in October, 1991 and not long after, she joined the Parks Committee. At that time the long standing Chair of the committee wanted to resign and a replacement was needed. Without hesitation, Susan volunteered. With her passion for, and dedication to environmental issues, and a “can-do” attitude, she quickly and competently took the helm of the committee. Since her tenure as Chair, the committee was actively involved with a variety of environmental issues related to both federal and provincial parks, including timber harvest operations and proposals for developments in and around parks. Susan coordinated the committee’s activities and drafted letters and CEC briefs. In spring 1994, she also joined the MNS Board. Susan accomplished these activities while working as a research scientist at the Fresh-water Institute and parenting her two young children.
In January of 1996, Susan stepped down from her role as Chair of the Parks Committee. The MNS greatly appreciates the time and effort she gave over the past four years, and is pleased to present her with this Service Award.
