2020 Marks Nature Manitoba's 100th year of hosting birding trips, and to celebrate we are challenging you to participate in our 100 Birds for 100 Years contest! It's easy to take part and a great way to get some new birders, kids, and families out looking for feathered friends. This contest is open to anyone in Manitoba, and you do not have to be a member to participate.
1. Download a copy of of 100 Birds for 100 Years checklist. It's divided up into "beginner birds" (birds that are easier to find or more simple to identify), "intermediate birds" (birds that are less common or a bit more tricky to identify), and "challenging birds" (birds that are rarer or difficult to identify). The checklist also covers birds that can be found in Manitoba at different times throughout the year, so it's for all-seasons!
2. Get outside and start looking for birds! Look for birds on your regular travels, make a few special dates to go out birding, or join one of our many birding trips throughout the year. As you find birds you can check them off your list.
3. Later in the year we will have an online form to fill out where you can input your results and be entered to win some great prizes (prize details will be announced later in the year). You don't have to find all the birds, but every bird you find gives you another chance to win!
Contest closing date and other info will be listed later in the year. Good luck and happy birding!
We love to see great photos of you out birding and the birds you see, so please use the hashtag #100birds100years and tag @naturemanitoba in photos on social media!
