Astronomy Week

Monday, July 25, 2022 to Friday, July 29, 2022

Enjoy some of the darkest nighttime skies in southern Manitoba from the idyllic setting of the Mantario Wilderness Zone. We'll learn to navigate the stars, be amazed at the majesty of the Milky Way, view the wonders of the Universe through a telescope, and possibly enjoy some Northern Lights and meteors. Astronomy week isn't only for die-hard astronomers - staying out all night is entirely optional! During the day we'll travel by canoe and on foot, exploring the area as far and wide or as close to home as participants desire. Possibilities include hiking part of the Mantario Trail, an evening paddle to Sunset Hill, fishing, blueberry picking, and day trips to nearby lakes.

Trip Leader:

Heather Matheson is a former astrophysicist who loves all things outdoors.  She has been exploring the Mantario area for 15 years, and considers it one of the loveliest places in the world.
